Boundaries
Experience is a good resource I have to feel more confident with myself. The skills acquired improving our land during the last year, give me more confidence about making a more realistic design and being more aware of where the site's limitations are.
Where I am more insecure and I hope to gain more confidence, is to playing between the boundaries of a gov't institution where I don't know the rules very well. Also there will be feedback from many points of view, of a wide range of teachers, parents and relatives. This will be a place visited by many people, and inside the margins of creativity, I have to give an example with a minimum assured success. |
Most of the Albinyana citizens not believe in organic farming, and may be a good way to expand their mental boundaries on the thoughts that they have about agriculture. I hope that this work can help to integrate a better way to do agriculture in their lives and business.
Resources
Economic
The school has some money that can be spend in the garden, with this can be buy a composter, more tools, and the necessary elements to do the potting mix, and seedlings.
Seeds
Some of the seeds will be donated by my own bank, and other will be purchased.
Below I put a list of the seeds I donated and which ones I will buy.
People
196 children is also a great resource of kid-power, that if I find the way to organize them well can give more than enough energy to maintain and implement the garden.
Parents and teachers can be a valuable resource if they are motivated and participatory.
Water
On the site there is a hose that reaches the whole area, with good water pressure able to supply an irrigation system through all the site.
Organic matter
The garden produces lots of organic matter itself, and apart from that there are lots of food scraps from the school kitchen waste (which currently goes to garbage).
All this organic matter can give large amounts of compost each year and provide an opportunity for children to understand the food circle, soil net secrets, and some patterns of nature.
