How my portfolio has meet the accreditation criteria
This is a review of relevant activities and gives an overview of how my diploma meets the Permaculture Association (Britain)'s diploma accreditation criteria.
- Demonstrating design skills
Processes
I have used different and various processes to realize all the portfolio projects, choosing the process that was most appropriate in each situation.
In my case at the beginning of my diploma I started using the acronym OGADIMET, like a design process base I made for my projects 2 & 3.
To do my project 4 I have used CEAP, I thought that this process could be used for a life project, in which I could base it more on the learning process.
Also I used Looby Macnamara's design web to do other life project 8 and 10.
Classic acronyms as SADIMET has been used for my projects 1 & 6, and OBREDIMET to realise my project 5 & 9.
To do my project 7 I have use The Earth Care Manual from Patrick Whitefield, because I found it was very interesting for a detailed project of Land.

Ethics & Principles
At the right picture you can see the Hannah's tools matrix that I use to reflect in each project which Ethics and principles I have used. It's been used the PC Ethics & Principles in all my projects. I used David Holmgren principles in all of them, but also you can see references of Bill Mollison and Slay principles at the projects 2,4,5,7,9 & 10. |
Tools
It's been a large variety of tools along the portfolio. Also at the left picture you can see the Hannah's tools matrix that I use to reflect in each project which tools I used. But I also used other tools as SMART, Integral theory or the 4 questions.

- Applying PC in my own life
Project 6 has been used to redesign and implement our house and the project 7 for our home land in Spain.
Also the projects 4,8 & 10 were life projects in which I have used different processes to develop solutions or improve different aspects of my life.
- Applying PC to my work and projects
You can see 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 & 10 as an example of diploma projects dedicate to my work and projects.
- Learning from and developing my permaculture practice
It has been implementation in all my diploma projects, some ones more than others.
Project 7 could no longer be implemented because I had to move to England to live with my family.
But we can find good examples of implementation in projects 2,3,5,6.
I have had to stop at some point my Project 10 (My finances) in my diploma, but as life project is still in practice.

- Dissemination
At the beginning of my diploma I have lived at the permaculture education center The Panya Project. There I was one of intentional community members that was managing the place.
During the time I lived there I runned permaculture workshops almost daily, and we hosted and gave courses as PDC, PIP, ecovillage design, food forest, NVC, and many more related to permaculture.
Project 3 is entirely dedicated to one of the of two weeks course that I designed and performed there, with the intention of set an example to help others to design them own courses.
Another powerful way to spread concepts of permaculture is working with primary schools. That was one of the reasons why project 5 is devoted to our little's school.
6 & 7 are projects dedicated to create a future permaculture educational centre, which already we have hosted volunteers with whom we have shared our knowledge and projects.
And project 9 is the permaculture design of one of our products in Organic playgrounds, which has as one of its functions educate children at the nurseries, primary schools, and academies.
I'm still teaching PC regularly to all type of students, like erasmus +, primary schools, or other groups.

- Community Building
Having made the diploma as an independent route, I have not had the opportunity to have a class with peer supports, Instead during my projects 6 and 7 I could work with Nim Robins and Matt Prosser, with whom we've helped each other by doing "triple" review using the 4 questions. For some time we had meetings to discuss our situation on the road to realizing our diploma and we support each other.
Community building was one of the subjects that I have taught in my PIP Project 3, where I have invited all the members of my community to participate to learn and improve our own community relations. You can read more about this amazing workshop realized by Michell Thill and Mizuky Watanabe by doing click (here).
Also in my projects 6 & 7 I talk about how beneficial is to have a friends community, with who to support each other and share knowledge and experiences, and especially when they all have projects related with permaculture.

- Symmetry
I have volunteer at the Panya project in Thailand, were I have helped to build the permaculture educational centre. There we hosted many courses and workshops from many types of teachers, and as a member of the community I helped teachers to run or lead.
I have participate in the kids area organisation at the IPCUK 2015.
Actually as a volunteer I'm part of Permacultura Ibera head group, making a permaculture networking and trying to connect professionals, teachers, services,... all together. Also helping to organise the 2016 & 2017 convergence in Spain, and others locally.
I have made Permacultura Activa, a web page where I share my PC experiences, and explain how to design with permaculture processes and toots, ... that I have learned.

- Evaluation and Costing
In all processes of my projects there is an evaluation, and also I've put in all of them reviews to assess the project in personal, profesional and time aspects.
At the end of my project 2, at the design proposals of my project 7, and at the analysis of my project 9, there is a comment or section where I talk about costings.
Also If you want can read my project 10 that is dedicated entirely to my finances.
