Design
The schedule
To design the course schedule I have divided the workshops depending on the topic, and I have assigned a colour to better differentiate them.
These topics are:
I tried to meet balance between theoretical and physical activity classes, like I search for to be balanced in the amount of knowledge and practice in each topic.
I have used like a guide some old Panya permaculture introduction course timetable from Matt Proser and Ben Murray, that has helped to me to design the initial base timetable, and from there I have changed it to crate the final timetable adapting it to the new situation needs and goals.
I also wrote the names of the support facilitators in each class box .

Rotation
Day off
The 8th day will be off to let the students have time to absorb better the information, and refresh them minds doing other thinks as knowing better the place or each others.
Catch up
This is a challenge to the group energy, a joker activity with witch I could play. I located this near to the end of the course, so if the group energy was low during the course we have this space for another activity that was not possible to finish at time, if the group energy keep high I had this space to do a surprise activity (planed before as a joker ). For this space in the schedule I had attributed the white color to recognize it easier.
Night activities
To enrich the night time, just after lunch I will propose different activities and pass documentaries. These activities are completely voluntary where also can assist my community members, and who don't want to participate can use this time for them selves and charge batteries for the day after.
First night we play name games to start to integrate the participants in the course and to each other. To also be more integrated in the area and see other exemplar pc projects we will go to have a dinner at Pi Tong Pai.
A hot sauna will be a good activity to better reinforce the relations between the participants, and catch and store good energy.
The documentaries are in part related with the classes of the day, giving more knowledge, seen other examples and giving inspiration to put it into practice.

Designs for activities
Garden bed design
To have a hands on experience at the gardening classes, we will implement from scratch two beds for our garden.
At the left picture you can see the garden beds designs that I have chosen to implement, both following companion planting and organic gardening techniques. The above draw correspond to a bed that will be smaller and its walls will be make with recycled bottles. To give an example of creativity I call it the pizza bed, because it contains the element needed for a pizza topping. And below is the design of a larger bed, and its walls will be make with bamboo. |
Appropriate technologies
For this workshop I had to buy most of the materials, and is one of the largest economic investment for this course.
I plan to make this design in two evenings dedicated to appropriate technologies. In my community we are a few yoghurt lovers ( luxury product in Thailand ), and when we do courses this is a good resource for breakfast. So because this reason and many others that this technology offer, I also planned to build a hay box cookery, which unlike solar dryers that will be make all with recycled materials, and zero economic cost. |
